Blog Post 10
Ms. Cassidy blew my mind with the amount of technology she uses in her classroom but what really shocked me was how creative she was in integrating technology. She did not just introduce the usual boring blogs but also taught about how to use wikis as well as bring something kids see as fun, the Nintendo DS, into the classroom. I think that the best idea that Ms. Cassidy taught in these videos was that students are never to young to start learning technology. The students in her classroom are so far ahead of even some college students and could probably do better than some of us. Ms. Cassidy also adds morals into technology, for example, the blog post etiquette that her students have already learned by using kind words and constructive criticism to help other students learn more about the subject or show them how to work the blog sites better by leaving tips. One interesting question I thought was raised in the student questions at the end was about the originality of the students work. Cassidy's answer was very helpful to me because I never understood how to avoid plagiarism in blogs until she discussed her method of asking the students the same information just altered some for a new and inventive answer of their own. One of the main problems I would face in adding more technology in the classroom would be the difference in socioeconomic statuses among students and the parents allowing their kids to be on the internet as well as their names, pictures, and school work. As a teacher, I would try to encourage parents to sign forms allowing me to put their child's work online as well as show their progress and show the parents how easy it would be to access their student's work and grade. I would also try to keep technology fees to a minimum for all students to encourage parents to pay which is very hard to do even in Baldwin county where technology is everywhere.

Response- Lexi, I am a student at the University of South Alabama and I agree with all that you are saying. Unfortunately, we aren't able to make some of those decisions but, luckily it will get better when you get in college because it is much more laid back. Good luck with class and Spanish Class.
10/19/14 Project#6 C4K#6 At school I like recess.
Response-Hi Ethan, I am a student at the University of South Alabama. When I was in school, I loved recess, it was a time to be loud and relieve some stress.
10/26/14 Project #6 C4K#7 Our literacy class is learning how to read maps and a saying for NESW N stands for North,E stands for East,S stands for South and W stands for West. The saying for this is Never Eat Soggy Weet-bix.
Response-Hi, Toma. My name is Paige and I am a student at the University of South Alabama. Reading a map is very important, I use a map daily to get me from one place to another. There are many acronyms for North South Eat West. Some that I learned were:N-never, E-eat, S-sour, W-worms or N-never, E-eat, S-sour ,W-watermelon These silly little rhymes will really help you learn North South East West. Have a great week.

Blog 7
Strengths
I love to learn new things about technology.
Technology amazes me on how it works.
I use technology daily.
I understand that children are fully capable of learning technology no matter the age.
Weaknesses
I should use technology more to keep me organized.
I like to procrastinate.
I like to bite off more than I can chew most of the time.
My time management skills need major improvement .
When thinking about being a teacher in the next two years is scary to me, just because I know that the styles of teaching will constantly be changing. When having my own classroom, I will have to stay on my game and continue to learn everyday about different teaching styles and all different ways to use technology in my classroom. When teaching I want to impact my children, so that in 10 years when they are walking across the stage they can think back on my class and how it help them along their path.

Michael Fawcett does a great job explaining to us the importance in creating your own PLN in his video. He explains that a PLN is a great tool to communicate around the world. He had a student that wanted to know an exact time for an event, instead of emailing NASA or writing a letter he was able to send a tweet and get a response that was accurate from NASA in minutes. Twitter, Facebook, and many more PLNs are great ways to keep parents informed on events, due dates, and homework for their children. It is amazing to know that Michael Fawcett was sitting on the beach, while listening to a workshop going on across the world. With PLN teachers will be able to communicate with educators worldwide. It is very interesting to know that children in Alabama can connect with children around the world, that is important so they can be educated on the different cultures and races. With these resources learning will be more understood because they can have fun and communicate for themselves. I never knew having a twitter could lead me across the world. This picture has children standing around a world holding hands, it shows that all children can connect having a PLN.

what about EDM310? blog post 1
What are my fears about EDM310
Compare and contrast EMD310 to other classes I have taken
What will be the most difficult thing about EDM310
The best way to address the most difficult thing
Questions about this course
When I first registered for EDM310 I had no idea what it was. I didn't do much research on the class and figured i would just see what it was all about on the first day. The closer to the time school was starting I began to panic so I asked a friend, he said it was a computer class that wasn't difficult, he also is very computer savvy unlike myself. He told me if I just stay on top of the work, I would be fine. I fear that I will procrastinate and not stay up to date on my work. I am a full time student and I work 30 hours a week so I have to be very careful with my time. With so much going on at this point in my life I feel like I have no time to procrastinate, because if I do there will not be a very good turn out with my grades. Other college courses I have taken in the past, was on paper with only a little amount online, unlike this course it is all online. This class you are your own guide as far as keeping up with your work and the due dates. Other teachers I have had in the past will have of work for you to do in the class, where in this it is done outside of class. EDM310 is a very fast paced course from day one, so I will have to stay on top of my work and not slack, where as some courses they will speed up towards the end.The most difficult thing for me in EDM310 will be to remember to keep up with all the due dates and work. I am very busy with work and my other classes so remembering to do my work will be a struggle but it will also keep me organized. I very thankful for taking this class, because it will really teach you time management skills. As far as questions, I do not have any at this time, but if I do I will make sure to ask them at the beginning or end of each class time. As the semester goes on, I am sure I will have questions but for now there are not any I can think of.

practice blog post
What does an educator do in his or her practice
What are my passions
Hi, my name is Paige Odom, I am from Mobile, AL. I graduated from Baker High School in 2011. I love being outdoors or watching sports. I attended Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton, AL. After my first two years of college on a softball scholarship, I decided to attended South because both my aunt and uncle received their PhD. from South. I am one of five kids, me being the oldest, and five years old being the youngest. I entered the education field because I love children, watching them progress, and helping children. Something about cute little 3ft humans with bright bows with a book bag that weighs them down warms my heart. I love interacting with children, learning from them while they learn from me. Seeing how a child learns is so fascinating to me, they are like a sponge and every little thing you do or say they take it all in. From Monday to Friday of the same week they can learn so many things and do not even realize it, and that is what amazes me. Everyone is raised differently, from financial issues to single parents everyone is different. Children do not understand why maybe their parents do not have the extra money for new shoes or why their mother is not around, but I want to be the teacher that they will not have to think of any of that. In my class I want to treat everyone fairly, we will all have the same dreams and that is to be smarter than the day before. In the 21st century, teachers have to understand that everyone's family is different. Yes, I will be there to be an educator, but I will also be there if they feel threated, need anything, and someone to listen. Many teachers come to class because that is their job, I want to come for a purpose and that is to help children to not only become smarter but become prepared for life. I am a good listener and always willing to help others when they need something or just a shoulder to lean on. I like to spend time talking to my family and enjoying the outdoors instead of being at work with rude customers. I need to improve on the facial expressions I give others when I do not agree, I may not say anything but my looks say it all.
